Minimum Requirements:
- Be an active Catholic in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church
- Earned a bachelor’s degree in music with organ as a primary instrument (a degree in organ performance is preferred)
- Knowledge of church literature, Mass order and form, and seasonal calendar of the Catholic Church is preferred.
- Experience accompanying choirs or singers and playing for Mass Services is preferred.

Parish and School Background:
Our Lady of The Atonement Catholic Church is part of The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter based in Houston. Established in 1983, OLA’s founding Pastor, Father Christopher Phillips, is an Anglican convert who was the first to receive the Pastoral Provision under St. John Paul II. OLA follows the Divine Worship Missal for its English Masses, and uses the Missa Normativa for its Latin Mass held every Friday morning and Sunday evening. Ten years later, The Atonement Academy opened its doors as an extension of OLA’s parish. Boasting a choral program that is known throughout the Catholic Church, each student participates in a choral ensemble every year they attend the The Atonement Academy. Students take part in daily Mass with one of the ten choirs performing an anthem during Holy Communion.

Position Summary:
This position serves under both the acting Director of Music for Our Lady of The Atonement Catholic Church as well as the acting Director of Music for The Atonement Academy College Preparatory School. The Church consists of three choirs comprised of children (St. Thomas More Choir, St. Augustine Boy’s Choir, and St. Nicholas Children’s Choir) as well as one adult choir. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:00 for children’s choirs, and Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 for the adult choir. Services are held on Sundays at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 6:00 PM. Attendance and performance at the three services and choral rehearsals will be at the discretion of the acting Director of Parish Music.
The Atonement Academy has ten active choral ensembles that perform for daily school Mass, as well as various other lower school choirs comprised of Pre-K through 2nd grade who perform only during the Christmas and Spring Concerts. The Lower School has three choirs consisting of children from 3rd – 5th grade. The Middle School (6th – 8th) has four choirs with the Upper School (9th – 12th) having three choirs. Rehearsals are held at various times throughout the day. Attendance for each rehearsal will be at the discretion of the Director of School Music as well as the director of each ensemble.

Principle Duties:
- Assist the Director of Parish Music and Director of School Music in any rehearsals by either playing notes or playing the accompaniment required for any repertoire assigned
- For assigned Church Services, accompany all choirs performing as well as play any parts of the Mass as assigned by the Director of Parish Music
- If need be, run sectionals for any rehearsals
- Accompany all choirs during school daily Mass as well as perform all parts of the Mass as required
- Accompany choirs for any concerts and competitions that may arise during the school year
